Feizi's Word Blog

While I try to make the most out of what I have, I feel the urge to expand my vocabulary. This is a gathering of words I pick up here and there everyday. I am aware that some of the words are terribly simple for most people. But since my vocabulary is embarrassingly small, these words are acutally new to me. The definitions are from www.dictionary.com.

I used to want to ruin my eyes so I can wear glasses to look smart. Now I am an Asian girl in California with a Chinese accent. People automatically assume I am smart, which is pretty cool.

"Insouciance", I like the way it sounds.

I used to want a tattoo of "IGNOBLE" - those were younger and dumber days. I still like the word though.

Have you heard of Charles Harrington Elster? He's probably best known for his 'Verbal Advantage' stuff. I like him for, "the Big Book of Beastly Mispronunciations".

I like words too.

ah, we have a wake up call to this quiet blog.
I haven't heard of Charles Harrington Elster. I checked out this website today. his books sound pretty interesting. Thanks for the recommandation. I wish his website would provide features such as a word a day or daily quotes by him. or Ill just have to look up the book Verbal Advantage . I don't know about "the Big Book of Beastly Mispronunciations" words are for communications. if everyone pronouces a certain word wrong every day. Then the wrong way will become the right way. isn't it?
